• Calcium plays a very important role in fruit and vegetable quality: firmness, resistance to shock and fungal diseases, better storage and transport, longer shelf life.
• Calcium also improves the post-harvest quality of many fruits and vegetables
• (tomatoes, bananas, citrus fruits, zucchinis, etc.).
• In alkaline soils, calcium combats soil and irrigation water salinity by replacing sodium in the root bulb zone and leaching out this harmful element.
• Applying calcium together with nitrate creates a synergistic absorption effect.
• Soluble calcium helps prevent physiological disorders or diseases such as: root rot in tomatoes, tip scorch in lettuce, melon vitrescence, bitter pit in apples, erwinia on PDT, fusarium (botrytis apple, roses…).
• Calcium stimulates flocculation of soil particles, considerably improving water infiltration and aeration of compacted soils.
